Western Region PPP elects officers

The Progressive People’s Party (PPP) last Saturday elected new Western Regional executive to steer the affairs of the party for the next four years.

In an election which was supervised by the Electoral Commission (EC), the party elected Mr Eric Asiedu as the Regional Youth Organiser and Mr Moses Twumasi Ankrah, Regional Organiser.

The other officers were elected unopposed and they are Mr Richard Amoko, Regional Chairman; Mr Alex Lear, Regional Vice Chairman; Mr Bright Nanamah, deputy Regional Youth Organiser; Mr Isaac Mensah, Regional Secretary; Mr Roland Archibold Gyapah, deputy Regional Secretary and Ms Adjoa Ansah, Regional Education Secretary.

Addressing the regional congress of the PPP by telephone in Takoradi, Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom, the party’s 2012 Presidential Candidate, asked Ghanaians to unite and collectively develop the country.

“We must all work together and share ideas and make Ghana a better place instead of sitting on the fence for it to get messed up.”

He urged the people of the region to unite so that the rich resources in the area could be developed to raise their standard of living.

“The PPP would listen to your concerns and assist to develop the region when it comes to power,” Dr Nduom said.

Madam Mary Ankomah Boakye-Boateng, the National Vice Chairperson of the party, spoke of the need to implement the constitutional provision on free education.

She said education must not only be free but compulsory as stated in the Constitution.

Madam Boakye-Boateng said the ideals of the party included truthfulness, probity, accountability, transparency and integrity. - GNA
