What Adakabre said on Joy FM and his subsequent clarification (audio)

Last Monday, radio show host, Adakabre Frimpong Manso alleged that the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has threatened his life.

Adakabre made the allegation in an interview on Joy FM following a decision by the NPP to blacklist two media houses – Okay FM and Neat FM over what the party described as biased against the NPP.

The NPP specifically mentioned Adakabre's programme on Neat FM and Kwame Nkrumah Tikese's programme on Okay FM.

Adakabre reacting to the development said, “I was told to the face that you will be killed at a specific date, I have all the evidence, I can substantiate them…I have everything on my phone, I have kept the phones and I would be willing to show it to anybody who wants to see them.”

He said Nana Addo abused him at a press soiree in his house.

But in a statement the NPP challenged Adakabre to make available the evidence and report the threats against his life to the police or apologise to the party and its flagbearer.

“If Adakabre fails to substantiate these accusations against Nana Akufo-Addo, we demand nothing short of a retraction of these baseless and false allegations and an unconditional apology to Nana Akufo-Addo,” the statement said.

The NPP said Adakabre’s claims were “unfounded” and were part of attempts to tarnish the image of Nana Addo and paint him as an intolerant and violent person.

On Tuesday however, Adakabre sought to clarify the information he put out on his show on Neat FM.
