Clubs’ fate to be decided Sun

Ashgold may have clinched the 2014/2015 First Capital Plus Premier League title, but there is still much to play for on the final day of the season on Sunday as 10 clubs battle to preserve their premiership status.

However, the club which is under the most pressure is 15th-placed Olympics on 37 points, who unlike other teams in the dogfight will be relying on the results from elsewhere when they host the uncrowned champions Ashgold at the Accra Stadium on Sunday.

The Wonder Club trail 14th-placed Bechem United and 13th-placed Medeama SC by a solitary point and will be hoping to live up to their moniker by pulling off a miraculous escape.

The photo-finish on the final day of the season will see the head-to-head rule likely applied as 14th-placed Bechem United are only separated by three points from sixth-placed Berekum Chelsea who have 41 points.

Elsewhere, Medeama will be looking to escape the drop when they host fourth-placed Inter Allies at the T&A Park; 12th-placed New Edubiase United engage ninth-placed Heart of Lions at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium and third-placed Liberty Professionals will be hoping to cement a place in the continental club competitions when they play 11th-placed Sekondi Hasaacas at the Carl Reindorf Park.

In other intriguing ties, Bechem United face already-relegated Brong Ahafo United at the Bechem Park, dethroned champions Kumasi Asante Kotoko in 10th place lock horns with Aduana Stars at the Baba Yara Stadium, fifth-placed Accra Hearts of Oak travel to Sogakope as guests of eighth-placed West Africa Football Academy (WAFA) and sixth-placed Berekum Chelsea play Wa All Stars at the Golden City Park.
