Dreams FC, Karela coronation Sunday

Dreams Football Club has set up a five-member committee to see to the organisation of the club’s coronation on Sunday as champions of Zone Three of the GN Bank Division One League (DOL).

The Dawu-based club sealed their return to the top flight league with an emphatic 3-0 win over Okwahu United last Sunday at the Theatre of Dreams in Dawu to open a nine-point between them and second-placed Heart of Lions, with two more matches left to end the season this weekend.

Currently, Dreams FC have 70 points, while Lions trail them with 61 points.

The committee, which has the club’s vice- President, Prince Abdul Hamid, as Chairman, has been tasked to raise funds to execute plans for the grand coronation after their last game against Tudu Mighty Jets at Dawu on Sunday.

The other members of the committee are Ibrahim Adam Dossey, Ameenu Shardow, Derrick Okraku and Augustina Afful.

“This is a challenge but we welcome it, although we have a very short time. We have already held meetings and so far the signals are very positive,” said Prince Abdul Hamid.

“The plan is to generate a partying atmosphere on Sunday as it will be a crowning moment for all the efforts made to ensure our success at the lower tier,” he added.

Dreams join Zone Two winners, Karela FC, who first secured a ticket for the premiership three weeks ago in the grand celebration on Sunday.

Karela FC now boasts of a commanding lead of 70 points, 22 points more than second-placed New Edubiase in Zone Two, with two more games left against Hasaacas today and Gold Stars at anyinase on Sunday.

Dreams and Karela will be presented with medals by the DOL Board in recognition of their respective achievements.

The race for the other slot is between Nea Salamina and Techiman City, who have both garnered 57 and 54 points respectively in Zone One with two games to go.
