Dwarfs dare Kotoko at Baba Yara

A resurgent Ebusua Dwarfs side, fresh from ousting Senegalese powerhouse, Diaaraaf, in the CAF Confederation Cup, will hope to maintain their fine form when they storm Kumasi to take on leaders Kumasi Asante Kotoko in a First Capital Plus Week 16 outstanding match on Sunday.

The tie, together with two others, had to be rescheduled to pave the way for continental club assignments involving Kotoko, Dwarfs, Medeama and Berekum Chelsea.

Dwarfs, a bogey side of the Porcupine Warriors, are currently trailed only by Inter Allies in the 16-club league, but Professor J.K. Mintah’s return to the mysterious lads’ fold ahead of the second round inspired their 1-0 aggregate victory over Diaraaf.

And in lead striker, Richard Gadze, and others, Dwarfs could prove stubborn at the Baba Yara Stadium, though in seven encounters between the two clubs, Kotoko have lost just once in an away game,  winning four times and drawing twice.

The reverse fixture at the Robert Mensah Stadium ended in a 2-2 draw, but Dwarfs will seek to capitalise on Kotoko’s crisis to secure at least a point.

Elsewhere at the Tema Park, whipping boys Inter Allies will attempt the impossible against Medeama SC as they fight hard to escape the clutches of relegation, while Berekum Chelsea contend with  Ashantigold at the Berekum Golden City Park.

Meanwhile, premiership side, Aduana Stars, will battle it out with Division One Dunkwa United in an MTN FA Cup Round of 64 outstanding match at the Nana Agyeman Badu II Park at Dormaa-Ahenkro on Sunday at 3p.m.

Dunkwa United earned the right to face Aduana Stars last Wednesday after pipping Asokwa Deportivo 1-0 in a second round outstanding match at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium.

On Monday, February 24, Rospak FC will play host to Ho Dynamo in another Round of 64 outstanding duel at the Sekondi Gyandu Park at 3p.m.

The outstanding matches followed a protracted protest case involving Ho Dynamo and Right to Dream which was cleared last week.

The FA Cup Committee chaired by Lepowura M.N.D. Jawula had to postpone the widely-publicised Round of 16 matches originally scheduled for this weekend after a joint consultative meeting with the Premier League Board (PLB) last Wednesday in respect of the calendar for the rest of the season.
