Kotoko win in Kumasi
League leaders Wa All Stars yesterday suffered their fourth away loss when they succumbed to Kumasi Asante Kotoko 0-1 in their Premier League encounter at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, reports Kwadwo Baffoe Donkor.
Both teams played a compact game making it difficult for either of them to break the defensive line of their opponents.
Kotoko broke the deadlock in the 57th minute when Amos Frimpong headed a well-taken free kick by Samuel Kyere on the edge of the penalty box of the visitors.
At Dawu, George Folley reports that goalkeeper Philomon Macarthy scored a historic 59th minute goal when his long volley zoomed into the net for the first goal in Dreams FC’s 2-0 victory over New Edubiase yesterday.
Former Hearts striker Eric Gawu added to the homesters’ tally when he headed home in the 62nd minute.
Rchard Ofori, who had before then given a good account of himself, failed to grab the ball.
Even with the win, the Kotoko supporters at the stadium were unhappy with the performance of Referee Daily Gagba and they laid a siege at the entrance of the dressing room in search of his blood.
Sensing danger, the Public Relations Officer of Asante Kotoko, Kwaku Ahenkorah, had to use the public address system to appeal to the supporters to excercise restrain.
