History was made in the English Premier League on Sunday as brothers Andre Ayew and Jordan Ayew scored in the same minute at different grounds on the final day of the season.

Both notched a goal in the 72nd minute of their respective matches.

Wassaman FC knocked out Kumasi King Faisal from the ongoing MTN FA Cup to qualify for the next stage with a 2-1 victory in a drama filled game played at the Baba Yara sports Stadium yesterday.

Faisal had two of their players sent off after the skipper Godfred Appiah handled the ball the post, while Godfred Sarpong was also shown the red card for a second bookable offence in an off-the-ball incident.

Hearts thump Royals 4-0

Accra Hearts of Oak advanced to the next stage of the MTN FA Cup competition when they defeated Akim Oda-based Kotoku Royals 4-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium yesterday.

Notwithstanding some controversial decisions by referee Dan Dogbetor, Royals played a good game and could have scored at least two goals but lacked the finesse to convert their numerous chances into goals and, therefore, bowed out to their more experienced opponents who scored two goals in each half to progress to the Round of 16.

Work to resume on OlympiAfrica Sports Complex

Work is to resume by the end of July this year on the abandoned Amasaman Community Sports Complex in the Ga West District of the Greater Accra Region.

To pave the way for the resumption of work on the abandoned project, the Ghana OIympic Committee (GOC) is already working in earnest to ensure all the requisite documents on the project site are ready.

Ministry to help secure OlympiAfrica project land

The Minister of Youth and Sports, Isaac Kwame Asiamah, has given the assurance that the ministry would help to properly secure the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA) land on which OlympiAfrica was putting up a community sports facility at Amasaman in the name of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC).

He said the project, when completed, would be for the benefit of the entire country and therefore even though the land origionally belonged to the MOFA, he would liaise with the GOC to secure the land properly.

President Akufo Addo to grace 42nd SWAG Awards

GOIL supports SWAG with GH¢30,000

Kotoko for Swedru, Hearts face Royals

Premier Club, Accra Hearts of Oak, after their run of impressive results in the top flight, will turn their focus on the MTN FA Cup Round of 32 home assignment against Kotoko Royals FC at the Accra Stadium on Sunday in an attempt to avoid an upset. 

Hearts have honoured six straight matches without a loss and will hope to replicate a similar feat in the MTN FA Cup when they lock horns with the ambitious Division One side from Akim Oda who are keen on making it to the Round of 16 stage of the competition.
