Asamoah Gyan swerves Kotoko for Legon Cities
The dreams of Asante Kotoko faithful that the clubs will land Black Stars legend, Asamoah Gyan, will not materialise as the player is set to join the gravy train at Ghana Premier League's glamorous, Legon Cities FC in what the Daily Graphic understands to be a lucrative deal.
A source close to the club says Gyan is expected to put pen to paper on a season-long loan deal in the next 48 hours after reaching an agreement to join the Royals for the 2020/2021 season.
Gyan’s link to Kotoko
Until the sudden turnaround, Gyan was linked with a move to the Porcupine Warriors as the 34-year-old seeks to wind up his illustrious career in Ghana's top-flight after parting ways early this year with Indian club, North East United.

Samuel Anim Addo, Gyan's business manager confirmed this to the Daily Graphic yesterday that the player had agreed terms with the local club and was due to sign the contract.
“I can tell you that Legon Cities have made an offer to Asamoah Gyan and the offer is very, very good and it comes with so many packages”, he said.
Recently, Kotoko's Communications Manager, Moses Antwi Benefo, told the Daily Graphic that the club had made overtures to the player but he had not reverted.

Player’s demands
Earlier, media reports had it that Gyan demanded $500,000 to join Porcupine Warriors, yesterday his manager stressed that Legon Cities' "offer was good" even though unconfirmed reports indicated that the former Ghana captain could receive up to $150,000 from the Legon-based side.

Gyan's capture would boost coach Goran Barjaktarevic's side which struggled to come by goals during the truncated 2019/2020 season.

They were among the lowest-scoring teams in the league and had managed to score 12 goals and conceded 18 goals in 15 games. Only Dreams FC and relegation-threatened Karela United FC had scored fewer goals (10) at the time the league was aborted in June due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Cudjoe moving
Also joining the Royals is promising starlet, Mathew Cudjoe, who impressed after a loan spell with Kotoko last season.
According to the youngster’s manager, Kotoko were not forthcoming with a good offer so he had to weigh his options before deciding that Legon Cities was the best destination for the Division One side Young Apostles' 16-year-old winger who had trials with Bayern Munich.

"Mathew had offers from AshantiGold, Great Olympics and Legon Cities and we chose the best offer in terms of money and an opportunity to continue his development," Mr Anim Addo explained.
