Athletics: GNPC to sponsor Ghana’s Fastest Human

The Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) is now the new headline sponsor of the Ghana’s Fastest Human (GFH) competition at a launch in Accra recently.

GNPC replaces Surfline, and will sponsor this year’s programme which aims at unearthing sprint talents for the nation.

The founder of the programme, Reks Brobbey, said at the launch that talents from the regional meet would be monitored and provided the needed nutritional and coaching assistance by renowned trainers for a year. 

The Chief Executive Officer of GNPC, Alex Mould, launching the 2016 Ghana’s Fastest Human (GFH) said the programme provided the opportunity for his outfit to live its mission and also engage in sports which was a way of ensuring healthy living among Ghanaians.

“There should be conscious effort to recapture glorious heights and give the young athletes the platform to make the nation proud. This initiative represents that platform, hence our support,” he said.

The event takes off next month, with heats in Takoradi, through Tamale, Kumasi to Accra for the final heat where 40 athletes would be selected for the final at the Baba Yara Stadium.
