According to the Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr Mustapha Ahmed, the preliminary MOU mandates the United Arab Emirates-based Thumbay Group to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the facility, and is in line with the Ministry's quest for more strategic partneships with the private sector.

The Minister, at the signing of the MOU in Accra, expressed confidence in the capabilities of the Thumbay Group, disclosing that he was impressed with its state-of-the-art sports and medical facilities during a visit to the UAE earlier in the year.

He said, "This preliminary MOU spells the start of the engagement to rehabilitate the Kaneshie Sports Complex otherwise known as the Azumah Nelson Sports Complex.

The founder of the Thumbay Group of Companies, Thumbay Moideen, who signed the MOU on behalf of his outfit, said he was looking forward to upgrading the existing structure to a world class status.
