BAL strikes major kit deal with PUMA ahead of 2026 season

The Basketball Africa League has secured a major commercial boost ahead of its 2026 season after naming PUMA as its official outfitter under a new multi-year partnership.

The agreement will see the global sportswear giant provide all official apparel for the league, including team kits, referee uniforms and fan merchandise, beginning with the upcoming season, which tips off on March 27 at the SunBet Arena in Pretoria.

Under the deal, PUMA will supply a full range of on- and off-court gear, from match-day uniforms and warm-up kits to training wear and accessories. The partnership will also extend to clothing used in the league’s social impact initiatives and player development programmes.

BAL President Amadou Gallo Fall said the collaboration reflects a shared ambition to strengthen the sport’s footprint across the continent. He noted that PUMA’s connection to African sport and its innovative approach made it a natural partner as the league seeks to enhance standards and broaden its appeal.

For PUMA, the agreement represents another strategic step in expanding its basketball presence globally. The company’s Vice President for Sports Marketing and Licensing, Johan Adamsson, said the brand is eager to bring its performance technology to African basketball while engaging a growing international fan base.

Fans will have access to the new merchandise both online and at selected retail outlets, as well as at BAL venues during the season. Organisers say the designs aim to capture the vibrancy and diversity of basketball culture across Africa.

The BAL continues to attract a strong portfolio of partners, including the Rwanda Development Board, Afreximbank, Air Senegal, Amazon Web Services, Castle Lite and RwandAir, underlining the league’s growing commercial appeal.

The 2026 campaign, the sixth edition of the competition, will feature 12 club teams from across the continent competing through conference phases and playoffs, as the NBA-backed competition continues its push to elevate the profile of African basketball on the global stage.

Additional details about fixtures and participating teams are expected to be announced in the coming days.
