Black Queens arrive home to rousing welcome after 2024 WAFCON qualification
Ghana’s Black Queens arrived home today, December 7, to a rousing welcome after defeating Namibia in the final lap of the qualifying series to pick a slot to the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) to be staged in Morocco.
The players together with their technical handlers, led by Swiss coach Nora Hauptle and other officials arrived at the Kotoko International Airport to a large crowd amidst singing and dancing following their second leg fixture against Namibia which was honoured in Pretoria, South Africa.

They were welcomed on arrival at the airport by Ghana Football Association (GFA) President, Kurt E S Okraku, Vice President Mark Addo and other Executive Council members of the GFA.
Also in attendance were General Secretary of the GFA, Harrison Addo, Women’s Football Representative on the ExCo, Gifty Oware-Mensah and Head of Women’s Football Development at the GFA, Ama Brobbey Williams.
The Ghana Supporters Union were also in attendance to cheer the gallant Queens on as they arrived amidst singing and dancing.
After missing out on the 2022 Women's AFCON and the chance to qualify for the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup, the Black Queens made sure to maintain flawless run under Coach Hauptle, who took charge in January and has transformed the team with an impressive record of 10 consecutive victories and boasting impressive statistics.
The Black Queens began the campaign on a good note defeating Rwanda 7-0 away before recording a 5-0 victory in Accra for a 12-0 aggregate win last September.
The Ghanaians finally sealed the WAFCON deal after recording a 3-1 victory over Namibia in Accra last Friday before losing 0-1 in Pretoria making it 3-2 on aggregate to qualify.
