The Balaji Group two (BGC2)  has won this year’s Greater Accra Cricket League after beating EVEREST by five wickets in the final match played at the Achimota Cricket Oval last Sunday. They were presented with the overall trophy and medals.

The 2016 League consisted of 10 teams and it marks the beginning of the cricket season.

The teams included BGC1, BGC2, Taysec Titans, GTA, Everest, Oasis, CITI, Supermax, MIDCOM and the national Under 19 cricket team.

In a keenly contested final, BGC2 led by Akoliyah Patel, overcame a huge deficit to win by five wickets at the main pitch of the Achimota Cricket Oval.

The competition was sponsored by Balaji Group and WAATCO Ghana with support from Bel Aqua and MKNG.

Mr Patel, who is also the chairman of the Greater Accra Cricket Association, after the feat told the Graphic Sports his outfit prepared to seeing to the development of cricket in the country.

He stated that there would be two more champions, including the Top Four and Top Two competitions before the annual Diwali Cup at the tail end of the year.

He urged the youth to bring their minds towards cricket, adding that it is a sport which demands one to be determined.

Man of the tournament was Mark Bawa, while Samson Aweh was adjudged man of the match in the final match.
