Fianoo, the longest serving CEO since the formation of the club tabled his resignation last Friday indicating to the board of directors of the club that his decision would take effect on June 13 when he would handover officially.

The letter sighted by the Graphic Sports made reference to the resolution adopted by the board before his appointment on December 9, 2011.

The resolution which also gave him the opportunity to appoint a management committee has also given him the mandate to dissolve the entire management of the club after June 13.

Fianoo yesterday confirmed his resignation but refused to talk about the reasons for his action only indicating that he was expected to meet with the board of the club today.

But it is clear that his decision was predicated on the pressure that the supporters of the club had mounted on management and Coach Bashir Hayford following Ashgold’s abysmal showing in the Premier League.

Fianoo, now the chairman the Ghana League Clubs Association(GHALCA), appeared to have been under pressure due to the club’s precarious financial situation and his attempt to secure support from some well-meaning Ashgold supporters had proved futile.
