Football Impact Africa, PrideSpins empower Teshie youth through football and education

Football Impact Africa, organisers of the Ghana Football Awards, in partnership with gaming company PrideSpins, has engaged residents of Teshie in a one-day community outreach programme that combined football, education and social empowerment.

The initiative, dubbed the “Ghetto Love & FinPower Players Workshop,” was held at the TEPS Park with support from Rev. Charles Bannerman Siaw Obeng, manager of the Nana Amponsah Memorial AstroTurf Park. The event drew hundreds of residents and young footballers, centring on the themes of empowerment, discipline and opportunity.

Ahead of the football matches, participants were taken through interactive educational sessions. Prince Emekor Azanu of the Ghana National Anti-Doping Committee delivered a presentation on the dangers of drug abuse in sports, warning that indiscipline and irresponsible behaviour could waste talent. “Discipline and responsibility are key. Talent without responsibility can easily be squandered,” he said.

Anita Nadia Attah, Director of FinPower and Football Impact Africa, spoke on financial literacy, urging participants to “play smart on and off the field.” She stressed the importance of financial discipline to ensure long-term stability, noting that the workshop reflected PrideSpins’ holistic approach of nurturing not only skilled footballers but also well-rounded individuals.

PrideSpins’ Country Manager, Kwadwo Opoku Amaning-Kwarteng, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to supporting communities through football. “PrideSpins is about more than games and entertainment—it’s about giving back, inspiring youth, and using football as a tool for growth and opportunity,” he said.

The competition saw eight teams, including Sealady Stars, Aliciod Boys, Jamboree, Gonnor Skull, Salem Stars, More Time and So Events Stars, battle for honours. Salem Stars emerged winners, with So Events Stars and More Time Stars taking second and third place respectively. Enoch Laryea Sowah of More Time Stars won the Top Scorer Award for his standout performance.

Cash prizes and branded souvenirs were presented to winning teams, while community members participated in raffle draws for prizes such as television sets, headsets and soundbars. The lively atmosphere, marked by goals, chants and cheers, turned the day into a festival of both football and community spirit.
