Ghana names contingent for World Mini Golf Championship in Croatia

The Ghana Minigolf Federation (GMF) has named a squad of a record number of 20 golfers for their maiden appearance at the World Mini Golf Championship in Croatia starting September 10.
The President of GMF, Talal Fattal announced the squad comprised of 19 men and one woman today (September 29) in Accra, describing it as the largest contingent from among the 36 countries who will participate in the Championship. He said a key indicator for the selection of the golfers who would be grouped into teams of four each during the tourney was their performance in various competitions and events organised by the Federation including the maiden Ghana Mini Golf League, the Ghana Mini Golf Clubs' League and the monthly Get-Together.
Members of the squad include Solomon Addae, Ibrahim Osunaba, Bright Frimpong, Akwasi Ankrah, Francis Xavier, Morris Ofei, Richard Amoah, Prince Amoah, Maluf Ahmed, Rocky Addo and Peter Obeng.
The rest are Enoch Nyarko, Emmanuel Osei, Philip Osei, Rejoice Addoboe, Fadi Fattal. Talal Fattal, Raphael Kyei and Hala Fattal.
Team Ghana will participate in two events at the World Cup; The World Adventure Golf Masters between September 10-12 and the Mini Golf World Championship between September 20-22.
Mr Fattal said the team who are expected to leave Ghana on September 7, will be financing their trip with their own funds as well as some support from the GMF, predicting that the team will return from Croatia with some medals.
The Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Pius Enam Hadzide in an address assured the GMF of support for future competitions describing the Federation as a model for partnering government to develop sports.
"We see the GMF as a major stakeholder in the development of sports and we pray and hope to meet you at the airport to receive the trophies when you return".
He assured the Federation of governmental support in future budgets by the ministry for sports development.
The Minister later joined Mr Fattal to unveil the official logo for Team Ghana at the Championship.
