Ghana set for C’wealth Games

Ghana is bracing up for a good showing at the 2014 Commonwealth Games which will be held in Glasgow, Scotland from July 23 to August 3.

With just two weeks to go,  Ghana’s team have stepped up their preparations at their pre-Games camp in the Scottish City of Ayr.

The preGames training has afforded the team a great opportunity to fine tune their preparations before moving to the Games Village at Hampden Park on July 23. 

The contingent that arrived for the preGames camp comprised of athletes, coaches, medical team, security personnel and administrative staff. 

Ghana will be among 70 participating nations at the Games, which will see athletes compete for laurels in 17 sporting disciplines.

The country will be represented in 10 sporting disciplines in Glasgow, comprising athletics, boxing, shooting, taekwondo, table tennis, judo, swimming, badminton, cycling and weightlifting. 

Ghana’s athletes have been using the various sporting facilities in the vicinity for their training sessions. Team Athletes and para sports have been training at the athletic oval at South Ayrshire College; Team badminton, Judo and Team table tennis teams have pitched camp at Belmont Academy while Team Swimming have been training at the Citadel Leisure Centre.
