Liberty Professionals are preparing to face Samartex even if their top marksman, Latif Blessing, is unavailable

Liberty plot revenge against Samartex

Liberty Professionals coach, George Lamptey, says his side is poised to avenge last year’s MTN FA Cup defeat to Samartex on Saturday when they square off in a Round of 16 tie of the same competition.

Samartex hit the headlines when they eliminated Premier League leaders Hearts of Oak on penalties at the Round of 32 stage, but Liberty, well aware of the threat by the Division One side, said they were fully prepared to get rid of their opponents this time round.

Liberty Professionals will likely miss their leading marksman, Latif Blessing, who is away on international duty with the local Black Stars against Japan in an international friendly later today.

In an interview with the Graphic Sports, Coach Lamptey said, “We are ready to revenge against them on Saturday. We are fully prepared to eliminate them and also not to repeat last year’s results in the same competition.

“We are also likely to lose Latif because he is on international duty with the local Black Stars, but we are prepared to beat them even without him.”

He, however, disclosed that he had been furnished with information by the team manager of Hearts, Sabahn Quaye, to ensure they return to Accra victorious.

In the other Round of 16 fixtures, last year’s losing finalist, Asante Kotoko will engage Storm Academy at Nkawkaw on Saturday, while fellow title chasers, Wa All Stars  welcome Mighty Royals to Wa on Sunday.

Also on Sunday, Elmina Sharks will lock horns with True Democracy; Hasaacas will travel to Nkawkaw to play former Premier League side Okwawu United and Real Tamale United host Bechem United in Tamale on Sunday.

However, WAFA will welcome Emmanuel FC to Sogakope on Saturday, with Kumasi-based Asokwa Deportivo facing Wa Rockets at Wa.
