Ministry to assist fans for Commonwealth Games

The Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Joseph Yammin, who is also the chairman of the 2014 Commonwealth Games Planning Committee has announced the creation of a secretariat at the Accra Sports Stadium which would assist spectators with visa acquisition for the event which commences on July 23 in Glasgow, Scotland.

The Minister made the disclosure when he visited a section of the Ghanaian team for the Games at their residential camping base at the Theodosiah Okoh Hockey Stadium in Accra.

“The secretariat is at the Accra Stadium and it has been tasked with acquiring sponsorship from corporate bodies for Team Ghana as well as facilitating the visa application process for fans who intend to witness the Games.

“African Origin Travel and Sports Tourism is the Authorised Ticket Reseller (ATR) for the Games but the secretariat would only assist fans who can sponsor themselves to Glasgow, Scotland”, he stressed.

Ghana will participate in 11 disciplines, including; athletics, badminton, boxing, cycling, paralympic sports, judo, powerlifting, shooting, swimming, table tennis and weightlifting.
