Politicians, actors to thrill at Peace Games Sunday
The political class is set to exhibit its football prowess on Sunday when the 2016 Election Peace Games come off at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The event, put together by the Despite Group of Companies, will feature three games, comprising Christian XI versus Muslim XI, Members of Parliament versus Party Executives, as well as Opete XI versus Akrobeto XI.
Speaking at the launch of the event on Thursday in Accra, Dan Kweku Yeboah of the Despite Group of Companies said the occasion would be used to mark Ghana’s 59th Independence anniversary, as well as preserve the existing peace in the country.
“It behoves on all of us to contribute to sustaining the peace of our dear country. It is in this light that we have put together the 2016 Election Peace Games that coincide with our 59th Independence anniversary”, he said.
“The games will bring together honourable Members of Parliament, political party executives, the Christian Council, led by Rev Dr Opuni Frimpong, our Muslim brothers, led by the Chief Imam, Sheikh Osmanu Nuhu Sharabutu, popular musicians, namely: Abrantie Amakye Dede, Patience Nyarko and comedians Akrobeto, Lil Win and Funny Face,” he added.
He disclosed that politicians expected to participate in the games would include the General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress, NDC Johnson Asiedu Nketia, a former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwadwo Owusu-Afriyie, and the National Youth Organiser of the NPP, Sammy Awuku.
He explained that the first two games which would begin at 1.00pm will last 40 minutes each, while the main tie involving Opete XI and Akrobeto XI would last for 90 minutes.
The rates for the games range from GH¢5 to GH¢10.
