Black Queens head coach Kim Lars Björkegren says his side is confident and mentally prepared ahead of their crucial second Group D clash against Cameroun today, insisting that "pressure doesn't exist" for him and that the team is in a strong place.
After opening the tournament with a 2-0 win against Cape Verde last Wednesday, he acknowledged Cameroon will pose a much tougher challenge but expressed full belief in his players, highlighting Ghana's organized defense, improving consistency, and ability to raise their level against stronger opponents.
Coach Björkegren stressed the importance of being clinical in front of goal after missed chances in the previous match, noting that opportunities will be fewer against Cameroon.
He also emphasized that the team is focused solely on the present, putting past encounters aside as they aim to take another step toward qualification.
"So I think it's going to be a tough one. But like always, I start to know the girls very well now, and I believe in them. And I also know when the opponent is more difficult to play against, it also normally means that we are a better game."
"Yeah, for me personally, pressure doesn't exist. But and I actually think that we are in a good place, the whole group, including the most important, the players. We have built something that we are proud of. We are well organized."
"We all know that both teams have a good chance with three points to take it to the next step. Of course, I expect a tough and hard game, but I believe in us," he stated.
