Shalina, 2 others support Sports Festival

The National Sports Authority (NSA), organisers of the revived National Sports Festival, has received donations from three corporate entities to ensure a successful organisation of this year's games which start tomorrow in Kumasi.

Representatives of Shalina Healthcare Ghana Limited, Goil Energy and Elsayus Cleaning Services presented various items towards the event at a short ceremony held at the Media Centre of the Accra Sports Stadium.

While Shalina, producers of medicinal products, donated GH¢30,000 consisting of GH¢15,000 cash and GH¢15,000 worth of products, Goil gave GH¢20,000, with Elsayus supporting with GH¢5,000, two air tickets and cleaning services at the venues.

At the event, Mr Amrit Pal Singh, Business Manager of Shalina Healthcare, said the gesture was to enable the NSA to put up a memorable event as well as to unearth talents across the country.

"Sports is the only means by which we can attract the youth from the play stations to the playground to help them develop to become productive and responsible adults".

"Sports and medicine have very close association so we decided to come on board to support this prestigious event which we believe will help in bringing up the youth in a more meaningful manner to enrich their lives," he said.

Mr Robert Sarfo Mensah, Director General of the NSA, who received the donation, expressed appreciation to the companies for the kind gesture and promised to ensure that the funds are put to good use.
