Ghana midfielder, Derek Boateng, says he is close to ending his hiatus from football in January after receiving offers from two clubs.

Boateng has been clubless after completing a one-year deal with Spanish La Liga side, SD Eibar, last season and he appears to have traded his soccer boots for a golf club after being spotted several times at the Achimota Golf Club taking golf lessons.

However, the player, after a game of golf  last Friday at the Achimota Golf Club, told the Graphic Sports that he had received concrete offers from his former Swedish club, AIK Fotboll as well as Mecca-based Al-Wehda over a potential transfer in the January transfer window.

The 32-year-old said he had a slight preference for AIK because of his stint there between 2003-2006 although he was also ready to play in any country.

He said "Right now I have some offers from Saudi Arabia which I am thinking about, I think maybe I will be going back to my Swedish club, my former club, AIK Solna.

"I really have love for that club. These are the two clubs which I am thinking about right now. For me, I don't know which one I will be going to unless the January transfer window is open."

According to Boateng, he had no immediate plans of quitting football for golf, although the latter was a sport he would like to take up professionally after retiring.

The midfielder also hinted at a return to his boyhood club, Liberty Professionals, after completing his European sojourn.
