Two athletes would qualify through the quota system as was decided after the world championship in Kazan, Russia, last year.

Ghana Swimming Association President, Theo Wilson Edzie, confirmed to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that two Ghanaians would go in through the quota system, with Abeiku Jackson  close to qualifying as he was meeting the qualification standards.

Jackson will be in the German city of  Augsburg from May 13-15 for a competition before joining four other athletes at the Olympic qualifier also slated for May in Romania.

“It is good we support swimming now, everybody must know how to swim. Investment into swimming is a  lifetime investment,” Mr Edzie noted.

It would be the first time in 64 years that Ghana would be sending a swimming contingent to the Olympics. -GNA
