Taekwondo coaches urged to be missionaries

The president of the Ghana Taekwondo Federation (GTF), Frederick Otu Lartey, has charged participants of the just-ended Olympic Solidarity and Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) level one technical course for coaches to be missionaries of the sport everywhere they find themselves.

He also urged them to make good use of the knowledge and skills acquired through the 10-day training by imparting it to the upcoming athletes in the sport.


Addressing the participants at the closing ceremony at the WAM Taekwondo Academy at Tema, Mr Lartey said "I urge each and every one of you to be missionaries of the sport as you depart to your various destinations."


Also, the Secretary General of the GOC, Richard Akpokavie, congratulated the participants and noted that the best way to promote the sport in the country was for them to extend their expertise to their various athletes to become world champions.


The Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr Mustapha Ahmed, expressed his appreciation to the GOC for their support and proposed that taekwondo should be added to the various school curriculum.


As part of the course, certificates of honour were awarded to the 20 coaches around the regions who particpated in the course.
