UPAC B'ball warm-up

The dress rehearsal for the 2015 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship comes off today at the University of Professional Studies (UPS) basketball court with eight tertiary institutions battling for honours.

The eight teams from tertiary institutions in the Greater Accra region are expected to use the tourney to gauge their team's readiness ahead of the start of the main event on March 14, 2015 at the same venue.

The fixtures will have Ashesi University play Pentecost University while Wisconsin International University Wisconsin International University College clash with the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA).

In the other matches, Zenith University College plays Marshalls University College with the host, UPS, battling it out with Ghana Telecom University.

Patrick Akoto, a representative of Rite Multimedia, organisers of the event, explained that the UPAC championship is the only basketball event that brought tertiary institutions in the country under one umbrella.

The competition is sponsored by Dynamite Energy Drink and Access Bank and it is supported by Everpure, EV Oil and PZ Cussons.
