We hope Inaki's injury not serious — Valverde

Athletic Bilbao head coach, Ernesto Valverde, has provided an update on the wellbeing of attacking star Iñaki Williams.

This comes after the Ghanaian set alarm bells sounding in the Basque Country last Saturday, as Bilbao played RCD Mallorca to San Mamés in a La Liga clash.

Inaki opened the scoring from the penalty spot as Los Leones emerged on the right side of a 2-1 result, a much-needed return to winning ways.

Early in the second-half, however, the 31-year-old pulled up with a fitness problem, before limping off to be replaced by brother Nico.

Speaking to the media post-match, Bilbao manager Ernesto Valverde was therefore asked for an update on Iñaki’s wellbeing.

And Athletic’s headmaster went on to explain:

”It seems like it’s a muscle issue. We hope it’s not too serious. We’ll do some tests tomorrow.”
