Zaidan picks second Man of the Match award

Black Satellites midfielder, Mohammed Zaidan, was named Man of the Match for the second successive game despite Ghana's elimination from the 2026 WAFU Zone B U-20 Championship following a goalless draw with Togo yesterday.

The industrious midfielder once again delivered an impressive performance in the heart of Ghana's midfield, controlling the tempo of the game with his composure, tireless work rate and intelligent distribution to earn the individual accolade.

Zaidan had also been voted Man of the Match in Ghana's previous Group B fixture against Burkina Faso, where the Black Satellites fought back to secure a 1-1 draw despite playing a significant part of the match with 10 men.

His back-to-back awards were among the few bright moments for the Black Satellites, whose campaign ended at the group stage after they failed to record a victory in the tournament.

Although Ghana's exit was a disappointing one, the competition provided valuable exposure for the young squad, who demonstrated resilience, determination and attacking promise against some of the strongest youth teams in the West African sub-region.

Zaidan's consistent displays throughout the tournament are expected to boost his reputation as one of Ghana's promising young midfielders as the technical team continues preparations for future assignments, including the 2027 TotalEnergies CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, which Ghana will host.
