The Empowerment Care Foundation, the humanitarian wing of Empowerment Worship Centre, has announced the successful completion of its LIFECHECK 2025 initiative, which delivered free health and educational support to more than 17,000 residents of Adenta, Madina and nearby communities.
The annual programme, which began in 2014 as a one-day outreach, has now grown into a major social intervention, touching more than 65,000 lives over the past decade. This year’s edition culminated on September 27 at the Adenta Village Astro Turf, following a week of wellness activities that included a community-run-a-thon.
Speaking at the event, Global Lead Pastor of Empowerment Worship Centre, Prophet Gideon Danso, described the initiative as a practical expression of compassion. “We treated a grandmother who had been living with debilitating cataracts for years. After a simple procedure at our eye clinic, she saw her granddaughter’s face clearly for the first time. That moment is why we do this. LIFECHECK is our commitment to turn compassion into action and to ensure that no one is left behind in our community,” he said.
The 2025 edition of LIFECHECK transformed the Astro Turf into a hub of medical and educational support. The medical team performed 13 surgeries, conducted 157 ultrasound scans, and treated more than 1,200 general cases. The dental clinic carried out 101 procedures, while the eye unit treated 487 patients. In addition, 78 units of blood were donated to the National Blood Service.
On the educational front, the initiative distributed 10,000 school bags, 30,000 exercise books, and 1,000 pairs of shoes to support over 11,000 pupils. Families also benefited from 853 new National Health Insurance Scheme registrations, more than 6,000 free meals, and 220 free haircuts for children.
Prophet Danso said the foundation was working towards evolving the outreach into a year-round support system. “Our vision is expanding beyond a single, powerful day. We are laying the groundwork for a needs bank, a sustainable model to move from an annual intervention to a source of year-round inspiration and support. This is the heart of our church in action, 365 days a year,” he stated.
The Empowerment Care Foundation has appealed to philanthropists, corporate bodies and the general public to support its mission with financial contributions, medical and educational supplies, and volunteer services to help scale the impact of LIFECHECK.
The Foundation, which serves as the social intervention arm of Empowerment Worship Centre, focuses on health, education and welfare initiatives, with the aim of ensuring that every individual has the opportunity to thrive.
