IFED Global to host 2nd Global Junior Model United Nations Plus

The Innovation For Empowerment and Development (IFED GLOBAL) is set to organise its 2nd edition of the Junior Model United Nations Plus in Accra.

The conference aimed at empowering and educating the younger generation, aged twelve to eighteen, through diplomatic, leadership, and contemporary educational activities is scheduled for August 22nd to 25th, 2023, at the University of Ghana, Legon, Accra.

In a release issued by the company it said the theme for this year's event is "Nurturing Young Minds for Sustainable Development," reflecting the conference's dedication to equipping young individuals with the skills and knowledge required to address pressing global challenges.

 Speaking ahead of the event, the Executive President of IFED GLOBAL, Tutu Acheampong, said the Junior MUN Plus conference serves as an extension of the organization's commitment to fostering global awareness and nurturing young minds for sustainable development.

“The Junior MUN Plus event will offer an array of engaging activities, including United Nations General Assembly simulations, UN committee simulations, SDGs awareness sessions, interactive games, social events, a global leader grooming session, and a diplomatic dinner and awards ceremony,” he said.

According to the release, the participants will have the option to choose between being residents or non-residents during the event.

It said the accommodation options will ensure comfort and convenience for all attendees, enabling them to fully immerse themselves in the conference experience.

Notable speakers from various fields include Ghana's Best Journalist 2022 and News Anchor, Portia Gabor; Ghana's Most Outstanding Teacher of 2022, Gyimaah Larbi; Dental Surgeon and Healthcare Advocate, Dr Akosua Quarcoopome; the CEO of Capikids Soccer Academy and Fitness Expert, Bernard Kweku Opoku, the Vice President of Leonards Group and Business Mentor, Mavis Leonards, among others.

The release said the event will also feature an additional day tour option, allowing participants to explore the cultural and historical treasures of Accra and Ghana and participate in both indoor and outdoor activities.

“Participation in the Junior MUN Plus event guarantees delegates the benefits of acquiring and improving their research and writing skills, negotiation, debating, lobbying, Confidence and public speaking skills, networking,  diplomatic etiquette for leadership, materials, intra-busing, certificates, dinner and awards night,  Global Leader Grooming and a lot more,” it added.
