Kempinski marks 10th anniversary with road safety and sustainability drive

Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City Accra has marked its 10th anniversary with a community initiative aimed at promoting road safety and sustainability.

The luxury hotel, under its 10 Acts of Kindness campaign, distributed torch lights and reflector vests to cyclists as part of efforts to protect vulnerable road users and encourage eco-friendly transport.

The campaign, dubbed Kempinski Saves at Night, took place on Thursday, August 25, 2025, and saw more than 100 cyclists receive high-visibility safety gear. The initiative also forms part of the hotel’s broader mission to reduce its carbon footprint while supporting the community.

“With increasing numbers of cyclists and riders on the roads and growing concerns about emissions and climate change, it is vital to ensure that those who choose sustainable transport options are protected and empowered,” the hotel said in a statement.

Hotel Manager, Etienne Joguin, emphasised the link between sustainability and safety, noting: “At Kempinski, we believe that safety and sustainability go hand in hand. By equipping cyclists with the tools they need and promoting eco-friendly alternatives, we’re not just making our roads safer today, but we’re also investing in a healthier planet for tomorrow.”

In addition to distributing gear, the campaign also promoted bamboo bicycles as a low-carbon alternative to traditional bikes, highlighting their role in reducing emissions and fostering sustainable transport.

The event, which brought together Kempinski staff, community members and cycling enthusiasts, concluded with a safety briefing that underscored the importance of obeying traffic rules, wearing protective gear, and maintaining road awareness.

The hotel said the initiative reflects its ongoing commitment to creating safer communities while reinforcing its role as a responsible corporate citizen.
