Over 1,100 women entrepreneurs apply for Bolt Ghana’s ‘She Moves to Win’ grants

Ride-hailing company Bolt Ghana has recorded a strong response to its International Women’s Day campaign, “She Moves to Win 2.0”, with 1,170 applications submitted by women-led businesses across the country within a few days of its launch.

The high number of entries underscores growing demand for funding opportunities among female entrepreneurs and highlights the campaign’s relevance within Ghana’s small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) sector. Applications have been received from a wide range of industries, reflecting diverse business needs and expansion plans among women entrepreneurs.

Commenting on the development, the Senior General Manager for West Africa at Bolt, Teddy Appa-Dankyi, said the response demonstrates the untapped potential within the female business community.

"The response from the entrepreneurial community is a reminder of the ambition that exists among women-led businesses in Ghana. Reaching 1,170 applications within a few days shows that when we provide clear pathways to funding, women are ready to take the opportunity to grow their businesses."

The selection and disbursement process for the grants is being handled by the Duafe Foundation, which is expected to ensure that the funding reaches businesses where it can have the most meaningful impact.

The initiative forms part of efforts to support women’s economic empowerment and address financing gaps that continue to affect many small businesses led by women in Ghana.

Bolt Ghana is expected to announce the final beneficiaries at a prize-giving event scheduled for March 28, 2026.
