Samsung Ghana has announced the launch of the Galaxy Watch Ultra2 and Galaxy Watch9, a new generation of smartwatches designed to serve as comprehensive health companions by transforming complex biometric data into actionable, personalised health insights.
The premium lineup, unveiled as part of Samsung's global Unpacked event, represents what the company describes as a massive leap forward in its health vision, with the devices continuously tracking data from the wrist to provide timely alerts and proactive guidance.
"Samsung is committed to helping people live better. We want to make the shift from reactive treatment to proactive care as seamless as possible," said TM Roh, Chief Executive Officer and Head of the Device eXperience Division at Samsung Electronics. "By continuously tracking health data from the wrist, these new watches act as a vigilant health companion, turning daily vital signs into proactive, actionable insights and providing timely alerts".
Galaxy Watch Ultra2: Built for Peak Performance
The Galaxy Watch Ultra2 is Samsung's most powerful and advanced Galaxy Watch to date, engineered for extreme outdoor adventures and high-performance seekers who demand durability and precision tracking in challenging conditions.
The watch is rated IP69K, 10 ATM and EN13319 certified, making it dive-ready. It can automatically track real-time diving data such as depth, time and water temperature the moment the user enters the water, with a dedicated diving app developed in partnership with Mares.
The Ultra2 is equipped with a massive 800 mAh battery, representing a 35% increase in capacity compared to its predecessor, and is powered by the new Snapdragon Wear Elite platform. Its expanded display reaches 5,000 nits of brightness, making it the world's brightest smartwatch and ensuring crystal-clear visibility even under intense sunlight. Despite the larger battery, the watch features a slimmer design with a shock-resistant titanium casing, transitioning seamlessly from rugged outdoor activities to everyday use.
Galaxy Watch9: Everyday Wellness Companion
The Galaxy Watch9 is positioned as the ultimate everyday health companion, designed for wellness-conscious users who want to build healthier habits through effortless activity and sleep tracking.
It features a lightweight yet durable aluminium casing with a refined cushion silhouette for a closer, more natural fit on the wrist. Combined with a wide range of interchangeable, soft-touch bands, the Watch9 is built for continuous, 24/7 wear to capture accurate and consistent health data. The 40mm model weighs just 31.5 grams, and the display reaches 3,000 nits of brightness for excellent outdoor visibility.
AI-Powered Health Features
At the core of both devices is Samsung's BioActive sensor, which captures continuous biometric data to develop a deep understanding of the user's health. Key AI-powered features include Sleep Apnea detection backed by FDA clearance and AI algorithms, Vitals monitoring which tracks health baselines during sleep and alerts users to significant deviations, a Heart Health Score for understanding cardiovascular wellness, Daily Cardio Load for optimising training, Fitness Index for a holistic view of physical fitness, and Hearing protection that alerts users to unsafe noise levels.
Annika Bizon, VP of Product and Marketing at Samsung UK & Ireland, said: "AI's greatest potential lies in shifting healthcare from addressing issues after they arise to proactive care, helping people maintain wellness through continuous, personal monitoring".
Availability in Ghana
The Galaxy Watch Ultra2 will be available in a 47mm size in Titanium Silver and Titanium Gray, while the Galaxy Watch9 will be available in 40mm and 44mm sizes in Cream, Graphite and Silver. The watches are available for pre-order starting immediately, with general availability beginning mid-August.
