UBA outdoors special product for women
A gender specific current account product, designed and targeted at women in the high echelon of society, has been launched in Accra by the United Bank for Africa.

The account, christened Ruby Current Account, was the first of its kind in the country and aimed at providing convenient banking services to professionals and business women in particular.
However, the product is already in operation in Nigeria

With a minimum deposit of GH¢2000 and GH¢5000 for the classic and premier account respectively, a holder of the account qualifies to purchase goods and services from its over 36 partners at a discount.
A holder also becomes an automatic member of the Ruby Club and enjoys other benefits such as training, career counselling, networking opportunity, social and family gathering among others.
The product comes with an interest of six per cent, customised debit cards and cheque book, no limit on number of withdrawals or deposits among others.
The launch
Speaking at the launch, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the UBA, Mrs Abiola Bawuah, said the account was created to meet the course of women in the Ghanaian society.
She said a Ruby woman was a strong woman who was capable of achieving anything she desired on her own.
In an interview with the Graphic Business, Mrs Bawuah said the product was to inspire women and encourage them to aspire to better height in society.
“In our society today, everything is for men, and women are a bit laid back so we want to inspire them to be conscious of their environment,” she said.
According to her, the product was for the advancement of women.
The Head of E Banking-Sales of UBA, Mr Johnson Olakunmi, said Ruby account had distinguished features that made it different from other product in the Ghanaian financial sector.
Mr Olakunmi said Ruby provided personalised services, and also provided superior and networking ability that placed holders ahead of others; every woman deserves it.
He explained that Ruby account was for those with prestigious and quality lifestyles and was very convenient.
With its numerous partners such as Nokia, Stallion Motors, Alliance Motors, Casa Trasaco, Deco Kraft, Exclusive Signature, Jamila Beauty Centre, Unique Floral, Lifestyle Gallery, Airport Women Hospital and a host of others, the Ruby account promises not to offer just a banking service but advancement in the life of today’s women.
