PANAFEST — vital tool for development

As the saying goes; “without knowing where you come from, then you don’t know where you’re going.” It is for this reason that the PANAFEST event was launched by former President Jerry John Rawlings in 2009.

The main objective of PANAFEST is to provide a means to promote unity between Africans on the continent and those in the Diaspora and also to encourage those in the Diaspora to help in the development of Africa.

During PANAFEST, the Ghanaian hospitality is showcased at its best. There is also a display of variety of rich art and culture—musicians, dancers, writers and artists and different kinds of exhibitors as well as other participants from other African countries.

This year's festival will be held on the theme: 'PANAFEST @ 25 - The Power of Pan-African Culture' and will kick off on July 25 and end on August 2.

There are numerous success stories of the PANAFEST initiative as many people of African descent have permanently settled in the country and are contributing to national development.

Without a doubt, PANAFEST holds a lot of significance not only with regards to the cultural significance but the economic benefits as well.

As people in the creative arts sector, PANAFEST presents a unique opportunity to showcase what we have to the rest of the world. Let us take advantage of the thousands of people from Africa and the Diaspora who will be visiting the country during this time.

Showbiz urges people in the creative arts sector to open their doors to collaborations and partnerships with those from the Diaspora to come in and make an impact in the creative arts industry.
