Black Star International Film Festival calls for entries
Organisers of the Black Star International Film Festival (BSIFF) has officially kicked off this year’s event with the call for submissions.
Filmmakers are being asked to submit their works for consideration from now till Tuesday, March 31, 2021.
Last year, the event which started in 2015 was held virtually and even though organisers are yet to give a date for this year’s edition, they are also yet to confirm whether it will be virtual again.
Some of the movies that have been screened at the BSIFF over the years include Nirvana, Life in My Shoe, The Game Changers, The Money Stone and In The Footsteps of Mamani Abdoulaye, Tausi, Code Wilo, The House Invictus and Last Days.
Even though 2020 was not a very good year for the film industry in the sub-region because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the organisers are hopeful of getting some good entries from Africa.
The BSIFF is a non-profit annual festival founded by Juliet Asante to bridge the gap between African movie cinema and the global community of moviemakers as well as focus on the business aspect of filmmaking.
In the last few years, it has provided distribution opportunities to emerging filmmakers as well as educating and informing budding ones on relevant industry standards.
