Lil Win, Funny Face ‘clash’ at Mallams and Pastors

They are humorous and have split ribs of many with their comic acts and on Saturday, June 11 and Sunday, June 12, theatre lovers will have a good time when Kumawood actor, Lil Win and Funny Face take the stage in Mallams and Pastors at the Accra International Conference Centre.

In what is expected to be a thrilling performance from the duo, Lil Win and Funny play the lead roles of Mallam and pastor respectively.

What else can one expect when these two comedians play lead roles in a play to expose the two set of religious personalities -- Pastors and Mallams in our society.

The plot of the play revolves around a power drunk politician, who in the bid to overturn the negative prophecies about his political fortunes in an election year works everything under the sun to win political power.

To help achieves his dream, he employs the services of a houseboy who will later change the “destiny” of the politician and some renowned and respected men of God after revealing their secrets.

“The play promises to teach the audience how to identify the symptoms of stress, how to prevent it and find healthy ways of managing it as well.

“The lack of managing stress has led to many deaths and I think it is important that we put in more education to let people know that stress contributes to many deaths in our part of the world. That is what this play explores”, Latif Abubakar, writer of the play, told Showbiz on Tuesday.

Since 2009, Latif Abubakar and his Globe Productions have entertained comedy lovers with his humour laden plays which mostly bring to the fore some of society’s ills.

Last year, over 8, 000 patrons watched three of his exciting plays, What Can Come Can Come, Divorce or Suicide and Thank God for Idiots which tackled issues such as corruption, the lack of patriotism and high rate of divorce. 

“The growing interest of people and the positive impact of our plays on them have necessitated and motivated Globe to produce its tri annual plays,” Latif noted.

Other plays from the stables of Globe Production are Romantic Nonsense, You may kiss the Corpse, Gallery of Comedies and The Second Coming of Nkrumah.
