MUSIGA Greater Accra to launch peace album
THE Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) Greater Accra branch (MGA) is set to launch an album of songs advocating for peace as the country heads towards another general elections in December.
The launch is slated for October 23 at the Micado Conference Centre near Labone Junction in Accra. Items on the album include a remix of the award-winning MGA Nation Peace Song released prior to the 2016 elections.
That track, produced by Dr Ray Beat, was initiated and organised by Joe Wizzy, MGA’s Regional Organiser. With input from 22 artistes including Ras Appiah Levi, Gifty Osei, Perppy, Joe Wizzy, Shega Styla, Goldmann, Elivava and Annette-D, it won the Best Peace Song honour at the Ghana Peace Awards (GPA) in November 2016.

“It was an extremely useful social intervention project the MGA undertook and we are happy to be back once again with more good songs to sensitise the public on the need to keep the peace in the run-up to the elections and beyond,” said Joe Wizzy.
Apart from the remixed 2016 MGA Nation Peace Song, new contributions on peace contained on the collection to be launched are from Phresh
Adam, Sandy Bee, Waizy Bee, Chizzy Wailer, Ama Nyamewaa, Rebecca Ray, Naphil and Zimran Clottey.
Others are Victoria Bosheba, EK Asante, Gbana Maa, K-Fresh, Rev. Veronica, Officer Kwesi Ofori and Papa Glory.
As a way of helping to build momentum towards the October 23 album launch, the MGA is organising what it describes as a ‘nation peace community clean up exercise’ today, October 17, from 5.30am to midday at the MUSIGA Beach, behind the Independence Square. The clean up is supported by Rush Energy Drink.
“The idea is to use our energies and other abilities to seek peace for this country. Peace creates the space for all to work and live in harmony and we must never take it for granted.”
