Rex Omar quits GHAMRO Board
Speaking with Showbiz on Wednesday, Rex said he could not continue to be a part of GHAMRO when individuals can take decisions without consulting others.
“In every business organization, stakeholders don’t take decisions without the consent of its members and that is exactly what GHAMRO is doing”, he told Showbiz.
Rex Omar said musicians were not happy about the way GHAMRO was being run and that is why a musician such as AmakyeDede could go on air and criticise GHAMRO.
“We were asking Government to put our destiny in our own hands so that instead of Copyright Society of Ghana (COSGA) GHAMRO as a private entity, would run the show but some individuals are running it as their own”, he said.
Although he did not mention names as to who was not doing things right, there have been earlier report that things were not right between Rex Omar and Carlos Sakyi, Interim Chairman of GHAMRO.
While Rex Omar was of the view that since GHAMRO had received a certificate to operate; it did not make sense to continue operating with an Interim Board for an unspecified term, when Carlos Sakyi and some members thought otherwise.
