Tribute in memory of Mawuli Semevo

As we honour the life and legacy of our brother and friend Mawuli Semevor, we are reminded of the promise of heaven – a place of eternal rest and joy, where sorrow and pain are no more.

Fire disaster

The news of Mawuli’s unfortunate accident struck us all with profound sorrow.

In that moment of trial, we rallied together, united in prayer and support, with the hope that he would recover, trusting in God’s mercy and healing power.

When word went viral on both social and traditional media that you were caught up in a fire blaze, we were all united in prayer and hope that you would be healed of the wounds you suffered from the fire and return to join us.

We rallied among ourselves to see how we could also show you our love.

We fixed Sunday, February 23, 2025, to visit you as a family, but alas!

We were hit with the horrific news of your departure on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at the Ridge Hospital, where you were receiving treatment after suffering those horrific burns.

Demise

Your passing has left an unbearable void in our Block, and it's hard to put into words the pain and grief we feel.

To the immediate family, we wish to draw their attention to Psalms 34:18, which says, “The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.”

We are confident that you are resting in the bosom of the Lord.

Most of us in the block jokingly preferred to call you nocturnal because of your work schedule, where you returned home very late.

You were hardly seen during the daytime, presumably because of late arrival home, you did not easily come out early during the day.

It was, therefore, not surprising that a tragic accident like this happened while you were resting after a hard day’s work the previous day.

Adenta family

Mawuli, you were more than just a family member and a friend; your calm demeanour, soft and eloquent yet firm voice during Block meetings and at a personal level, personified you as an intelligent man who did not just speak but was always measured in your utterances.

We remember the laughter, the jokes and the countless memories you shared with some of us.

Your infectious smile could defuse a potential conflict situation.

You had institutional memory of Adenta SSNIT Flats Block 61, where you lived for over two and a half decades and so during meetings when there was a need to recollect certain historical facts, you were always on hand.

Though a public figure, you never carried yourself as such but often gave the impression that you were shy.

Unanswered questions

Mawuli, your life was cut short most tragically and unexpectedly, leaving us with so many unanswered questions.

As we navigate this dark and difficult time, we will keep your memory alive by sharing stories, looking at old photos, and celebrating your life.

We will miss you every day, but we take comfort in knowing that you are no longer in pain.

Rest in Peace!
