President John Dramani Mahama has directed the Minister of Finance to establish GH¢1 billion Bawku Revitalisation Fund.
This follows the insecurity over the years, which has severely constrained public and private investment and stalled critical infrastructure development in the area.

Otumfuo's Bawku mediation report: Seidu Abagre should be recalled to Nalerigu to perform different traditional role
As part of the high-level mediation efforts to find a lasting solution to the Bawku chieftaincy dispute, which has plagued the Upper East Region for years, it has been recommended that Seidu Abagre, who was recently installed by the Mamprusi side as a rival chief to the Bawku Naba, Asigri Abugrago Azoka II, should be recalled to Nalerigu by the Overlord of Mamprugu, the Nayiri.
As a key figure in the contention over the Bawku skin, Seidu Abagre is to be recalled to Nalerigu and be reassigned to perform a different traditional role at the Palace of the Nayiri in Nalerigu.
Or if Seidu Abagre chooses to stay in Bawku, then he will have to stay there as a private citizen and not as a chief.

In a statement, the former President indicated that he has neither contemplated a consideration nor expressly or impliedly made any such request or representation to President John Dramani Mahama, his agent(s) or assign(s) to seek assurances of the safe passage for former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta as being suggested in the media report.
Reacting to a publication by the Herald newspaper suggesting that he was planning such a move, the former President indicated that even though he was concerned about his cousin and former Finance Minister, Ofori-Atta, that does not extend to any attempt to interfere with the rule of law.
