In celebrating the day, the students dressed in various traditional attires recited poems in various local languages and danced to traditional songs during a colourful ceremony.

Speaking at the function, the Headteacher of the school, Madam Alberta Tetteh, said the day was set aside to remind the pupils of the history of Ghana and its cultural values.

She reminded the pupils of the role of the forebears of this country who shed their blood to liberate the country from colonial rule.

Madam Tetteh advised the pupils to be patriotic and value their culture, pointing out that now most people no more valued our traditions, stressing that; ‘’Some even think our traditions are demonic, so we have almost done away with them.”

She reiterated the need for parents to educate their wards on our traditional values so that they would, in turn, teach the generation yet unborn to know about their roots.
