Schoolchildren urged to remain disciplined

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Stratcom Africa, Ms Esther Cobbah, has advised schoolchildren to make discipline a key aspect of their day-to-day activities.

That, she said, among other things, would make them grow into responsible adults.

Ms Cobbah said this at the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) Citizenship Week celebrations at the Calvary ‘2’ Basic School in Adabraka in Accra.

At the event, the children were educated on what democracy was all about and what they had to do to become responsible citizens.

She said every child had the right and responsibility to question their leaders on things they did not understand about national issues.

“A message that is reinforced becomes stronger and I will be very happy if at the end of the programme children get to know their civic responsibility, and recognise that citizens of Ghana include children,” she said.

Ms Cobbah said because pictures and arts worked effectively on children, the commission decided to add dance and drama so that its message would have more impact on them.

In order for the children to get the whole information clearly, the drama performed by the Sedic Group demonstrated that discipline was the key pillar to the survival of the country’s democracy.

At the end of the drama, the children who shared their experiences explained that the drama had taught them that children should not vote, nobody should vote twice, and the opposition party which loses must accept defeat to maintain a peaceful country.
