Access Bank supports KNUST

As part of its commitment to improving the learning environment in the educational sector, Access Bank Ghana has donated a new Toyota Hiace bus to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi.

The donation is expected to help curb the incidence of crime that has recently threatened the community of lecturers, students and staff on campus.

Presenting the bus to the University, the Managing Director of Access Bank Ghana, Mr. Dolapo Ogundimu, reiterated the bank’s commitment to the educational sector. He mentioned that Access Bank has for the past 6 years been supporting the educational sector by investing to help bridge the deficit in infrastructure, learning materials and support systems that enable students to thrive and excel.

Mr. Dolapo further noted that many corporate organisations including Access Bank are beneficiaries of the graduates churned out of the universities hence the Bank’s continued support for the sector.

“The university provides us with a pipeline of talent for the industry, and they require our support to make this happen. The role they play is invaluable, and as key stakeholders, the only way to make their work more sustainable is by providing the right support. Our contribution today therefore forms part of our sustainability agenda as a Bank” he concluded.

Receiving the bus on behalf of the university, the Vice Chancellor Professor William Otoo Ellis, commended Access Bank for the kind gesture extended to the institution and expressed their commitment to ensure the maintenance of the bus.

He said “The bus donated today will complement our efforts to ensure ease of transportation by staff and students while addressing our security challenges. This is exemplary.”

Over the years, Access Bank (Ghana) has demonstrated a strong commitment to sustainable business practices driving profitable, sustainable growth that is also environmentally responsible and socially relevant.
