Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson has called for a major transformation of Ghana’s defense strategy, with greater emphasis on technology, intelligence and agility.
He made the call during the handing over and assumption of administrative duty to Gilbert Adjei in Accra on Friday, August 14.
According to Dr Ato Forson, the changing nature of security threats requires Ghana to move beyond a defense system that relies largely on manpower and adopt modern technological initiatives.
He said the country must rethink its strategic posture to ensure the military is better equipped to respond to emerging threats.
“The future of defense cannot remain manpower led; it must become technology-led, intelligence-driven and agile,” he said.
Dr Ato Forson stressed the importance of investing in modern technology and intelligence capabilities as part of efforts to strengthen Ghana’s national security and improve the country’s preparedness to deal with evolving security challenges.
