3 Bono police officers interdicted for extortion

Three police officers stationed at Sampa in the Jaman North District in the Bono Region have been interdicted by the regional police administration for alleged extortion.

A statement signed by the Bono Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), Chief Inspector Thomas Akeelah, and released to the Daily Graphic yesterday, said the three officers (names withheld) were seen in a video circulating on social media suggesting that they were taking money from motorists.

The statement said the officers involved had been interdicted to allow a thorough and impartial investigation into the incident.

"The officers involved have been identified and interdicted to allow a thorough and impartial investigation into the incident.

The Bono Regional Police Command is investigating the incident, which was captured in a video circulating on social media that shows some police officers allegedly taking money from motorists," the statement said.

Internal procedure

Chief Inspector Akeelah, later in a telephone interview, said, "We are using internal disciplinary procedures through the Police Professional Standards Bureau (PPSB) to investigate the matter".

The statement further assured the public of the police's commitment to upholding the highest standards of professionalism and accountability among the personnel.
