This is in addition to an earlierGH¢20,000 the society, which is the women’s wing of the church, donated in support of the project last year.

Vision

Handing over the dummy cheque for GH¢50,000 at its recent conference, the Missionary Supervisor of the Western West Africa Episcopal District of the AME Zion Church, Cynthia Serwaa Dogbe, said: “As missionaries, we have also embraced the retreat centre vision of the Bishop, and have shown our commitment, not just by word but by deeds with an initial commitment of GH¢20,000 .”

“Our goal is to raise $250,000 to build one of the hostels, which shall be in our name and also help get some income for missions. We would not hesitate to ensure this facility to be named after any sponsor who would desire to sponsor the construction of one of these facilities,” she said.

Reflection

The retreat centre is to serve as a place of rest and reflection for ministers and for all as well. It will also support the community in many ways.
She charged the women to embrace the vision and work assiduously towards its realisation.

“Let us also do well to turn up in our numbers to support the grounds-breaking once the date is set. I plead with all the Pastors to encourage the women in your various Societies to get involved if we are to complete the project,” she emphasised.

The overall mission of Women’s Home and Overseas Missionary Society is to make disciples by “winning the world for Christ”. The Presiding Bishop of the AME Zion Church, Western West Africa Episcopal District, Rt Rev. Dr Hilliard K. Dela Dogbe, thanked the women for their support of the project.
