Some Traditional Area leaders grateful to President over support for tidal waves victims

The chiefs and queenmothers of the Some Traditional Area have called on the Chief of Staff at the Jubilee House in Accra to express appreciation to President John Dramani Mahama and the government for the effort to remedy the plight of victims of the tidal waves at Agavedzi, Salakope and Amutinu in the Volta Region.

Apart from  the President leading a government delegation to the communities in the Ketu South Municipality on March 6 to assess the situation, where the tidal waves had displaced the people and caused havoc to the infrastructural base of the area, allocation has also been made in the 2025 budget presented to Parliament by the Finance Minister, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, on March 11, to support victims of the natural disaster.

Appreciation

Leading the delegation to the presidency, the Makorsor of the Some Traditional Area, Togbiga Adama III, said “we want to thank the President and the government for the quick and prompt visit to sympathise with us after the tidal waves destruction”.

Togbiga Adama III expressed further appreciation to the President for his promise to construct the second phase of the sea defence project, which was included in the 2025 Budget Statement presented to Parliament on March 11, 2025.

He further praised the Chief of Staff for his respect and humility for all manner of people who came his way, and urged him to continue to exhibit such examplary statesmanship as a true ambassador of the President he served.

Chief of Staff

Mr Debrah reaffirmed President Mahama’s assurance that his government remained committed to finding a lasting solution to the recurrent tidal waves crisis along the coastal areas of the Volta Region.

He thanked Togbiga Adama and his entourage and the people of the Volta Region for voting for the National Democratic Congresss (NDC) to reaffirm their love for President Mahama and the governing party.

The Chief of Staff gave an assurance that President Mahama would not take the unflinching support of the people towards his presidency and the NDC for granted.
