He  also denied firing a  pump action gun indiscriminately to scare the crowd at a naming ceremony at the Mallam junction in Accra.

Chief Samuel Eze Ekezie, who was  accompanied by some executive members of the Igbo community in Ghana to the offices of the Daily Graphic expressed shock at the publication in the Monday April 7, 2014 issue of this paper .

The paper carried the story about the arrest of a Nigerian for threatening to shoot  a fellow national over a chieftaincy title.

He   said  the publication was  malicious and a calculated attempt to tarnish his hard won reputation and bring his high office as a chief into disrepute.

Explaining the circumstances that led to the incidents, Chief Ekezie said for sometime now the complainant, Eze Geoffrey had been parading as the chief of the whole Igbo community in Ghana.

He said his behaviour caused the Igbo community in Ghana to publish a half page notice in the  September 2012 issue of the Daily Graphic but he ignored and continue to parade himself  as an Igbo chief at ceremonies in Ghana.

According to him, at the naming ceremony he tried to point out that  Eze Geoffrey was an imposter , but during the exchanges between them ,he never  threatened to kill him or pull a gun to fire any shots.

He described the behaviour of the Odorkor Divisional Police Commander as very disappointing,  as he refused to listen to his side of the story and as soon as he arrived at the Odorkor  Police station, he was thrown into the cell overnight without taking his statement

“ I am not a self styled chief as reported in the said publication as I was duly enstooled as a chief by the Sempe Traditional Council of James Town in Accra.

The  Daily Graphic witnessed the ceremony and published it in their paper”, he said.

He said the case had been referred to the Accra Regional Police Commander for further investigations.

The two  who claimed to be eye witnesses to the incident and Eze Geoffrey had been expelled from the Igbo community, for breach of their constitution which in part enjoins members to report any misunderstanding to the elders for arbitration before resorting to police or the law courts.
