WAF

Speaking at a conference in Accra, Ms Fernandez de la Vega, who is also the President of Women for Africa Foundation (WAF), a private organisation, said without the involvement of women, no nation in the world could attain its development goals.

The conference, organised by WAF in collaboration with Baye Foundation, was on the theme, “Investing in Africa women to change the world”.

Empowerment of women

According to her, in order to access the best from women, there is the need to empower women to take up leadership positions in the country.

In her welcome address, the Chief Executive Officer of Baye Foundation, Adowa Boatemaa Okyere, stated that her outfit would continue to support women in the area of education and ventures in order to improve their lives.

That, she said, was an effective way to empower women to take up leadership positions and raise their self-confidence.

Commendation

She, therefore, commended WAF for its commitment and determination to raise high the profile of women in Africa, and promised to collaborate with the organisation to effectively discharge their duties.

Ms Okyere urged women not to allow any form of intimidation to stop them from pursuing their goals and objectives in life, adding that “this could be done through partnering each other in order to make meaningful contributions to global development”.
